{d/(3x/4)}-{d/x}=16

=>(4d-3d)/3x=16

=>d=48x

Hence, time= 48x/x=48min.

The usual time taken by him to cover the distance between his home and his office is 48 minutes

Solution:

By Walking at 3/4 of his normal speed, Mike is 16 minutes late in reaching his office

Therefore,

With a speed of 3/4 th of the usual speed, the time taken is 4/3 th of the usual time

(4/3 of usual time) - (usual time) = 16 minute

Let "x" be the usual time

Then,

\frac{4}{3} \times x - x = 16 \\\\x ( \frac{4}{3} - 1) = 16 \\\\x \times \frac{1}{3} = 16\\\\x = 16 \times 3\\\\x = 48

Thus the usual time taken by him to cover the distance between his home and his office is 48 minutes
