Hey Mate:

Answer:}

12% means 100 becomes 112.

So for your question 100 x N = 112

Means N=112/100= 1.12

Any number multiplied by 1.12 increases by 12%.

Ans:- 1.12.

A number must be multiplied with 28/25 or 1.12 to increase the number by 12%

Given:

  • A number increased by 12 %

To Find:

  • By what number , it should be multiplied

Solution:

Step 1:

Assume that number is x

Step 2:

Assume that number is multiplied by y so that number is increased by 12%

Step 3:

Multiply x and y to get new number

xy

Step 4:

Add 12% of x in x to get new number

x + (12/100)x

= x + 3x/25

= 28x/5

Step 5:

Equate the numbers

xy = 28x/25

Step 6:

Cancel x from both sides

y = 28/25

y = 1.12

Hence, A number must be multiplied with 28/25 or 1.12  to increase the number by 12%
