To increase the Number by 10% ,,,it must be Multiplied by 1.1
For ex. ::
let number be x
10%of x = (10/100)x= 0.1x
Now x is increased by 10% ,,,that means
x+10%x= x+0.1x= 1.1x
so to increase any number by 10% ,,,it must be multiplied by 1.1 or (11/10)

A number must be multiplied with 11/10 or 1.1 to increase the number by 10%
Given:
- A number increased by 10 %
To Find:
- By what number , it should be multiplied
Solution:
Step 1:
Assume that number is x
Step 2:
Assume that number is multiplied by y so that number is increased by 10%
Step 3:
Multiply x and y to get new number
xy
Step 4:
Add 10% of x in x to get new number
x + (10/100)x
= x + x/10
= 11x/10
Step 5:
Equate the numbers
xy = 11x/10
Step 6:
Cancel x from both sides
y = 11/10
y = 1.1
Hence, A number must be multiplied with 11/10 or 1.1 to increase the number by 10%
