a] humming is called in North-Eastern states of India and in other parts of India it is also known as 'Shifting Cultivation' and 'Slash and Burn Agriculture'. It is known as 'Roca' in Brazil, 'Ladang' in Malaysia and Indonesia and 'Milpa' in Mexico.

Drawbacks of Shifting Cultivation

As the people clear a plot of land by felling the trees and burning them this causes deforestation. After the soil losses it's fertility in a couple of years, the cultivators abandon the land and move to the other.
