We want

 x × 9 ( \frac{4}{5} )= 42

 x = \frac{ 42 ×5 }{ 9 × 4 }

 x = \frac {35}{6}

Hi there!
Here's the answer:

Let the no. to be multiplied be x
It is multiplied with 9 (4/5)= 36/5
Result = 42

36/5 × x= 42
x=(42 × 5)/36
x= (7×5)/6= 35/6
