Sediment can be transported by the action of wind, water, or ice or by the force of gravity acting on the particles. Sand and silt can be carried in suspension in the river water and on the way, this gets deposited by sedimentation...☺️❣️

Answer:

sediments can be carried by a downstream river.

By weathering, rocks turn into sediments which are further carried away by the river to form a sedimentary rock
