The treaty between France and Vietnam singed on 6th March, 1946 is known as Ho-Sainteny Agreement, after the name of signatories Ho-Chiminh, the president of Republic of Vietnam and Jean Sainteny, the special envoy of France.

The Agreement recognized the Vietnam as free state but within the Union of France.
