(a) If a stone held in our hands is released, it falls towards the earth.
It is due to the gravitational force of earth which attracts each and every object towards its centre. Due to this reason, a body always falls on the ground when released from a height. The gravitational force of earth is quite high as compared to moon, hence we are able to stand and walk on the ground.
(b) Two objects kept in a room do not move towards each other as per the universal law of Gravitation.
It is because, the gravitational force of attraction between two bodies or objects inside a room is extremely small. Whereas, for two large bodies it is more. The two objects have very small mass and hence the Gravitational force of attraction is negligible or very weak. As compared to the other object, the Earth's gravity is way more. Hence, they are not moving towards each other.
And we are done !!
