8. A rectangular sheet ABCD is folded in such a way that vertex  A meets vertex C.

Given,

AB = 3

BC = 4

Using Pythagoras theorem, we have,

AC = √(AB² + BC²) = √(3² + 4²) = √25

AC = 5

Consider the attached figure while going through the following steps:

∠ CAB = ∅

tan ∅ = BC / AB

tan ∅ = 4/3 = tan 53°

∅ = 53°

In Δ ABC,

sec 37° =  5/4 ..........(1)

In Δ PMQ,

sec 37° = PQ/PM  ...........(2)

Comparing (1) and (2), we get,

PQ/PM = 5/4

PQ = 5/4 × PM

PQ = 5/4 × AB

PQ = 5/4 × 3

PQ = 15/4
