given

sum of three consecutive multiples of 7 is 777

let smallest multiple be x

then,

x+x+7+x+14=777

3x+21=777

3(x+7)=777

x+7=259

x=259-7

x=252

Smallest multiple is 252

Answer :-

  • The smallest multiple is 252.

Step-by-step explanation :-

To Find :-

  • The smallest multiple

Solution :-

Given that,

  • The sum of three consecutive multiplies of 7 is 777.

Assumption: Let us assume the three consecutive multiples as ( x ), ( x + 7 ) and ( x + 14 ),

Therefore,

  • x + ( x + 7 ) + ( x + 14 ) = 777

=> x + ( x + 7 ) + ( x + 14 ) = 777

=> x + x + 7 + x + 14 = 777

=> 3x + 7 + 14 = 777

=> 3x + 21 = 777

=> 3x = 777 - 21

=> 3x = 756

=> x = 756/3

=> x = 252

  • The value of x is 252.

Hence, the numbers are :-

  • The number which we assumed as x

=> x

=> 252

  • The number which we assumed as ( x + 7 )

=> ( x + 7 )

=> ( 252 + 7 )

=> 259

  • The number which we assumed as ( x + 14 )

=> ( x + 14 )

=> ( 252 + 14 )

=> 266

Therefore, The multiples of are :-

  • 252
  • 259
  • 266

Now, According the question,

The smallest multiple,

=> 266 > 259 > 252

Hence, The smallest multiple is 252.
