A force of 100 N acts, in the direction as shown in figure on
a block of mass 10 kg resting on a smooth horizontal table.
The speed acquired by the block after it has moved a dis-
tance of 10 m, will be - (in m/sec) (g = 10 m/sec)

(A) 17 m/sec
(C) 1.3 m/sec
(B) 13.17 m/sec

Answer:

here the force in horizontal direction is

50√3 N

now the work done in the horizontal direction = force × distance

work = 50√3 N × 10 m = 500√3 J.

according to work energy theorem

work done is equal to change in kinetic energy

now work = ∆ K.E

work done = 1/2 mv^2

500√3 = 1/2 × 10 kg v^2

on solving we will get v = 13.17 m/s approx.
