Remember that percent means “parts per 100.” Therefore, if we simply assume that we have a 100-g quantity of compound, the percents converts to specific masses as follows.

Given that

C= 49.3% H=9.59 N=19.18

There fore C= 49.3 G

H= 9.59 G

N = 19.18

And O = 100- (49.3+9.59++19.18)=21.93

Moles of C = 49.3 g/ 12.01 g/ mole= 4.10 mole

Mole H = 9.59/1.008= 9.51

Mole N= 19.18/14.00= 1.37

Mole O = 21.93/16= 1.37

Molar ratio

C: 4.10/1.37= 2.99 or 3

H = 9.51/1.37= 6.94=7.0

O = 1.37/1.37=1

N= 1.37/1.37=1

Empirical formula C3H7NO

And the mass of this = 12*3++1*7++14+16= 73 g/ mole

Number of empirical units in the molecular formula ; n = 146/73= 2

Thus molecular = 2* C3H7NO= C6H14N2O2
