C. Answer in One Word or a Few Words
C1. Name the following.
1. The outermost covering layer in an animal cell
2. The material used by Hooke to observe cells
3. The cell part that has tiny holes
4. The tiny structures present in cytoplasm
5. The thread-like structures which help in the inheritance of characters
6. The green plastids found in plant cells
7. Cells lacking a nuclear membrane
8. Cells with a well-defined nucleus
Answers
1) Plasma membrane/Cell membrane
❒ It is selectively permeable and controls the entry and exit of substances showing movement in and out of the cell. It's structure was given by Singer and Nicolson known as "Fluid mosaic model".
2) Primmitive Microscope
❒ He observed the dead cells and cell wall using his own made primmitive microscope which didn't have much resolution power. He discovered cell in 1665.
3) Plasma membrane / Nuclear membrane
❒ The tiny pores and holes are the for the entry and exit of substances into or out of the cell.
4) Organelles
❒ Like organs in an organism's body, Organelles also have specific functions inside the cell. Like Mitochondria deals with respiration, Ribosome for protein synthesis etc.
5) Chromatin material
❒ In uncondensed form, the chromosome are found inside the nucleus in a Reticulum like structure. It contains the gene which is the heredity material.
6) Chloroplast
❒ The Plastid containing Chlorophyll pigment, helps in the process of photosynthesis by trapping solar energy. They are the kitchen of the plant cells.
7) Prokaryotic cell
❒ The prokaryotic cell have primitive nuclei which has no nuclear membrane. It floats in the cytoplasm and DNA is loosely bonded in the Nucleoid. They also lacks of the organelles.
8) Eukaryotic cell
❒ They are advanced as compared to prokaryotes. They have well defined nucleus with nuclear membrane. They also have membrane bound organelles.
