EXPLANATION:

1) Grassland, area in which the vegetation is dominated by a nearly continuous cover of grasses. Tropical grasslands have dry and wet seasons that remain warm all the time. Temperate grasslands have cold winters and warm summers with some rain.

2) Bison, coyote, antelope, badger, elk, prairie dog, various skunks, otters, foxes, snakes, lizards are few animals which live in prairies.

3) The soil and climate of Prairies are the most suitable for the cultivation of wheat and maize. So the production of wheat is so large that USA exports surplus wheat to other countries. Therefore, the Prairies of North America are called 'Wheat basket of the world'.

4) The animals rearing are restricted to the western part of the prairies because that area is essentially grassland where animals can feed themselves by eating the grass. It is not used for farming as that land is too dry and any plantation done on it would not thrive due to the lack of moisture in the soil.

5) In the Prairies, machines have almost replaced manual labour as the entire farm work of ploughing, sowing, harvesting, threshing and winnowing is done through machinery. The storing of food grains in the silos is also done through machines. Big dairy farms have modern facilities for processing milk.
