IUPAC name of C-C=C-C-C-C is Hex-2-ene.

Full expansion of the compound is C-C=C-C-C-C is

CH₃-CH=CH-CH₂-CH₂-CH₃

  • Here no substituent exists. Only carbon chain exists.
  • Also double bond have higher priority than single bond. Hence numbering starts from left side.

CH₃-CH=CH-CH₂-CH₂-CH₃

  1      2     3     4     5      6

  • Since there are 6 carbon atoms we use Hex and double bond is present in position 2. Hence 2-ene is added.

Therefore IUPAC name of C-C=C-C-C-C is Hex-2-ene.
