God is Everywhere, not only in temples, church, mosques or Gurudwara . According to Hindu belief, God is present in every nook and corner. I personally get a relief when I visit temples even though I believe God is present everywhere. Therefore I think it is just a thing coming out of everyone's mind. Moreover, temples are a place, where the idol is being worshiped with utmost care and offerings.
