Answer: To study the nature of the image, the lens is initially placed on a 'V' shaped stand and its focal length is determined by focusing the lens to an object at infinite distance. The points F1  ,2F1 ,F2  and 2F2  are marked on the paper and the lens is focused to the object at infinity, just behind 2F1  , at 2F1  , between F1   and  2F1 , at F1   and between F1   and optic center. In each case the position of the screen is adjusted and the nature of the image is studied.
