The traditional system of Indian agriculture is basically labour intensive. The fact that labour is cheap in India has led to the belief that it works best in the Indian agricultural system.

Secondly, since the land ownership in the farming sector in general is mostly individualistic in nature, which makes the labour based irrigation and sowing more easier. This is the basis of Indian farming, and thus all the problems lies here, which makes it difficult to transform into modern farming technique.
