We Have

  • Sin a = 5/12

Therefore,

Opposite side = 5

Hypotenuse 12

Assume Opposite side as 5cm and hypotenuse as 12cm.

Applying Pythagoras Theorem,

\begin{gathered}12^{2} = 5^{2} + x^{2} \\144=25+x^{2} \\x^{2} =144-25\\x^{2} =119\\x=\sqrt{119}\end{gathered}

So adjacent side is \sqrt{119} cm

So cos A = \sqrt{119} /12

and tan A = 5/\sqrt{119}
