Answer:

When the Malabar coast is receiving heavy rainfall in July, the Tamil Nadu coast is comparatively dry. When the Malabar coast is receiving heavy rainfall in July, the Tamil Nadu coast is dry because it lies in the rain shadow region of Arabian Sea branch and the Bay of Bengal is parallel to the coast.

The Northern Plains of India have a continental type of climate as these Plains lie in the interior of the continent and are located far away from the moderating influence of the sea. Thus, the summers are extremely hot and winters are extremely cold.

Central Maharashtra receives lesser rainfall than west Maharashtra. This is because it is located on the leeward side of Western Ghats. Monsoon Winds usher in the Indian subcontinent and strikes the Western Ghats. This obstructs their flow and hence the windward side gets the normal rainfall.

Answer:

When the Malabar coast is receiving heavy rainfall in July, the Tamil Nadu coast is dry because it lies in the rain shadow region of Arabian Sea branch and the Bay of Bengal is parallel to the coast.

The Northern Plains of India have a Continental type of climate. Northern plains have continental climate because it is away from the moderating influence of the sea. Thus, the summers are extremely hot and winters are extremely cold.

Central Maharashtra receives lesser rainfall than west Maharashtra. This is because it is located on the leeward side of Western Ghats. ... As the winds cross the Western Ghats area, it gets drier and therefore central Maharashtra receives scanty rainfall.
