C+H2=CH4

No. of carbon atoms in reactants and products is equal.

No. of hydrogen atoms in reactants is 2 and in products it is 4. So we have to multiply the no. of hydrogen atoms in reactants by 2. Then it would be 2H2.

So the required balanced equation is

C+2H2=CH4

C+H2⇒CH4

IN REACTANT          IN PRODUCT

  • C=1                      C=1
  • H=2                     H=4

SO, MULTIPLY H IN THE REACTION ×2 TO MAKE IT EQUAL AS IT IS IN THE PRODUCT SIDE

ans: C+2H2⇒CH4
