If a block has a real width of 6.5 cm and an
apparent width of 4.5 cm, what is the refractive
index of the glass? fif it is 2.5 cm deep, by how
much will print over which it is placed appear to
be raised?)

Explanation:

refractive index = real depth/apparent depth

refractive index = 6.5/4.5 =13/9

apparent depth =real depth/refractive index

ad = 2.5/refractive index

ad = (2.5x9)/13= 1.7

normal raised = real depth - apparent depth

= 2.5 - 1.7 =0.8cm raised.
