this is because the force applied by the balls are to be countered with equal and opposite force to stop it. force = mass*gravity. gravity is constant for all but the mass of a cricket ball is greater and tennis ball is lesser ,so because of this the force applied to stop the cricket ball would be greater and hence it would be easier to stop a tennis ball.
