Hey mate, here is your answer :

Metal + water = metal hydroxide + hydrogen (gas)

For an example, Sodium metal reacts rapidly with water to form a colourless solution of sodium hydroxide ... naoh having 40 but mass is created and other destroyed so that are equal to each other.
