Given: Due to a 16.67% rise in the price of milk, the milkman can purchase 10 litres less of milk for Rs. 2100.

To find: We have to find the original price of the milk.

Solution:

Let the original price of the milk be x rs.

Now the price increases by 16.67% so, the new price is-

x + x \times  \frac{16.67}{100}  \\ x +  \frac{x}{6}  \\  =  \frac{7x}{6}

Previously he buys 2100/x litres milk for rupees 2100 but now he buys 2100/(7x/6) litres milk for rupees 2100.

So, according to the problem we can write-

 \frac{2100}{x}  -  \frac{2100 \times 6}{7x}  = 10 \\ 2100( \frac{7 - 6}{7x} ) = 10 \\ 210 \times  \frac{1}{7x}  = 1 \\ 7x = 210 \\ x = 30

The value of x is 30.

So, the original price of the milk was 30 rupees.
