☘The Northern plains are very fertile because it is drained by Ganga and its tributaries. They are just below teh mountains and the river that flows from the mountains deposit silt and minerals which are very imported for vegetation.

☘They consist of large plain of alluvial soil and the deposition of alluvium in a vast basin lying at the foothills of the Himalaya over millions of years make this plain fertile.

☘Finally, the reason behind the fertile soil is due to well draination of the rivers. These are the reasons why the plains are best for cultivation. Even these areas are the high dense populated areas. It is spread nearly upto 7 lakh square km.
