Solution,

2x - y - 4 = 0 ------(1)

x + y + 1 = 0 -------(2)

● from equation (2)

x = -1 - y ---(3)

● Put value of x from equation (3) in equation (1),

2 (-1-y) - y - 4 = 0

- 2 - 2y - y - 4 = 0

- 6 - 3y = 0

-3y = 6

y = -6/3 = -2

● put value of y = 2 in equation 3

x = - 1 -(-2)

x = - 1 + 2

x = 1
