1.) Total=$90,000

Ratio given to wife, son and daughter= 1/3:1/4:1/6

Therefore wife gets= 1/3 of $90000=$30,000

Son = 1/4 of $90000=$22500

Daughter=1/6 of 90000=$15000

Remaining money is the man's money.

2.) Total distance= length of train + length of platform

80+120= 200 m (0.2 kmph)

Time = 20 second but need in hours so 20/(3600)= 1/(180)

Speed = distance / time = 0.2*180= 36 kmph

3.) We are given that the distance between city A and city B is 180km

The man moves to city B from city A and then comes back to city A.

Let us now calculate the total distance travelled by a man by taking twice the distance from city A to city B.

That is, 2×180=360km

Now, we are also given that the time taken by a man from city A to city B is 4 hours 10 minutes and time taken from city B to city A is 3 hours 20 minutes.

The total time taken is the sum of the time taken on both journeys.

Hence, the total time taken is 4 hours 10 minutes + 3 hours 20 minutes = 7 hours 30 minutes

Now, convert the total time taken in hours, therefore, divide the minutes by 60.

7 hours 30 minutes = 7 + 3060 hours ⇒ (7 + 0.5) hours ⇒ 7.5hours

As it is known that speed = distance time

Therefore, average speed can be calculated by dividing total distance covered by total time taken.

Thus, average speed is 3607.5=48km/hr

Hence, the average speed of the journey is 48km/hr.

4.) If 24.8m rises to 82.15 kg

Then x m rises to 26.5kg

Then x = (26.5x24.8)/82.15

x =657.2/82.15

x =8 m

5.) According to BODMAS

= 40-63÷21-(-23+5)÷6×2

= 40-63÷21-(-18)÷6×2

= 40-63÷21+18÷6×2

= 40-3+3×2

= 40-3+6

= 40+6-3

= 46-3

= 43

6.) Total weight = 650.16 kg

One bag = 10.32 kg

No. of bags = 650.16 ÷ 10.32 = 63 bags

7.) Car cover 568/3 km in 40/9 hrs

Car cover distance in 1 hours=568/3÷40/9

=213/5 km or 42 13/5 km

8.) 25,000 > 24,000

Thus, loss occurs.

The total loss of the cement company = Total loss by selling the given number of bags - Total profit earned by selling the given number of bags.

Substituting the corresponding values, we get

Total loss = 25,000 – 24,000 = 1000

Thus, the total loss of the cement company is equal to Rs.1000.

9.) Ratio is 8:5

Savings will be 3x.

Then 3x = 18000

Therefore saving will be of 18000.
