(c) The gravitational force of attraction between two bodies at a distance X is
20 N. What will be the force of attraction between them if the distance
between them is made 2x? ​

Final distance, r2 = 2x

The force of attraction when the distance is 2x.

Calculation:

- The gravitational force of attraction for the first case is given as:

F1 = Gm1m2/x²

⇒ 20 = Gm1m2/x²   ...(i)

- The gravitational force of attraction for the second case is given as:

F2 = Gm1m2/(2x)²

⇒ F2 = Gm1m2/4x²

⇒ F2 = 20/4   {from (i)}

⇒ F2 = 5 N

- So, the gravitational force of attraction between the two bodies will be 5 N.

f = m1m2/ r2, f = 20/4=5 so force of attraction will 0.25 time of 1st attraction of force
