Given:-

  • The ratio of the ages of Jaisimha and Bhasker are 1:2
  • After 7 years, the ratio of their ages will be 3:5

Find :-

  • Ratio of thier ages 7 years ago

Explanation

Let,

  • Present age of jaisimha = x years
  • Present age of Bhaskar = y years

Case 1.

  • x :y = 1:2

==> x/y = 1/2

==> 3x - y = 0__________(1/

Case 2

==> (x + 7):(y+7) = 3:5

==> (x+7)/(y+7) = 3:5

==> 5×(x+7) = 3×(y+7)

==> 5x - 3y = 21 - 35

==> 5x - 4y = -14 _____________(2)

multiply by 4 in equ(2)

==> 12x - 4y = 0_____________(3)

Sub equ(2) & equ(3)

==> 5x - 12x = -14

==> -7x = -14

==> x = 14/7

==> x = 2

Keep Value of x in equ(3)

==> 12×2 - 4y = 0

==> 4y = 24

==> y = 24/4

==> y = 6

Since

  • Present age of jaismiha = 2 years
  • Present age of bhaskar = 6 yrardc
