The poem 'A little grain of gold' by Tagore emphasizes on the proverb, 'what we sow is what we reap'.

Explanation:

In this poem, a beggar goes from home to home in collecting alms for his daily living. When he visits home, he hears the sound of a chariot from the distance. The king descends from the chariot, and instead of helping the beggar, begs him.

The disappointed beggar took a small piece of corn and gave it to the king. When he looked at his daily earnings at the end of the day, he found a small piece of gold in it. This incident assured him that his actions would bring him the consequences.

In his Christian New Testament Epistle to the Galastians, Paul the Apostle writes. "Be not deceived; god is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap".He goes on to instruct the Galastians to" sow to please spirit" rather than the flesh, indicating that a spiritual life will result in reward.
