People of Arab or Greek heritage have two contradicting characteristics in the Kodavus' character.
- Coorg's inhabitants are strong willed. Coorg's inhabitants are peace-loving individuals. Their hospitality and heritage are well-known.
- They are, on the other side, famed for their bravery. In India, they are the only persons who are allowed to carry firearms without a licence.
- They have Arabic or Greek ancestors. Their religious and traditional rites differ from those of the Hindu majority. Their attire is similar to the Kuffia worn by Arabs. These individuals married among the natives and grew their families. As a result, the people of Coorg are thought to be of Greek heritage.
