  • The empirical formula for adipic acid or propionate is C3H5O2. The molecular weight of adipic acid is 146 g/mol
  • Propionic acid is defined as a short-chain saturated fatty acid covering ethane involved in the carbon of a carboxy group.  
  • It serves as an antifungal drug. It is mainly a short-chain fatty acid and a saturated fatty acid and it is actually a conjugate acid of a propionate.
