The reason behind is
1) No of carbon atom gives us the preffix but
2) the general formula used is CnH2n+2
therefore we got the name suffix and
now the name is butane
3) as the functional group is alcohol (OH)
we got another suffix ol
4) There the IUPAC name of the compound formed is butanol
