Xeric environment is the one where there is low content of water in the soil and atmosphere and receives low rainfall. So to cope up with such conditions cactus has following adaptations
1. It has spines instead of leaves that limit the rate of transpiration thus preventing loss of water.
2. It has a widespread root system that enables it to get maximum amount of water from soil.
3. Its stem is covered with gelatinous covering and is thick and fleshy that is used in conservation of water.
