Answer:

Yes they are vestigial in humans but are present in early humans.

Explanation:

This is so bcoz herbivores and early humans used to eat raw food and plants that contain high amount of cellulose. caecum and appendix help in the digestion of cellulose but nowadays we humans eat properly cooked food that don't have cellulose. So they are vestigial now but present in herbivores.

Hope it helps.

Explanation:

  • VERMIFORM APPENDIX IS VESTIGIAL IN HUMANS.
  • IT WAS USEFUL IN THE ANCIENT HUMANS AS THEY USED TO EAT RAW FOOD WITHOUT COOKING.
  • ACTUALLY SMALL INTESTINE IS LARGER IN HERBIVORES THAN THAT OF HUMANS.
  • BECAUSE HERBIVORES EAT PLANTS WHICH CONTAINS CELLULOSE AND CELLULOSE IS HARD TO DIGEST SO IT HAS TO PASS THROUGH SEVERAL PARTS OF RUMINANTS SMALL INTESTINE TO GET DIGESTED.
  • ALSO HERBIVORES EAT RAW FOOD SO APPENDIX IS NOT VESTIGIAL.
