Calcination / Roasting are significant steps in metallurgical industry because these process of "purification of ore" are faster and more prominent than medivial processes (Burning).

• Calcination:- Heating of carbonate ore in presence of air.

• Roasting:- Heating of sulphite ore in absence of air.

Furthermore, these process are very much required for formation of oxides, which are reduced to form pure metals.
