Calcium chloride( CaCl2) is an inorganic compound that is highly soluble in water.

When water is added to it , it reacts to form Calcium hydroxide[ Ca(OH)2 ], and Hydrochloric acid( HCl ), thus resulting in the formation of a white colour suspension.

Also, this reaction is exothermic in nature, i.e.releases heat. Thus , when both the compounds are mixed they get heated up and forms the respective products.

Reaction:

CaCl2 + 2H2O ----------- Ca(OH)2 + 2HCl
