Bleaching Powder also called Calcium oxychloride (CaOCl2) is a Calcium Compound.

• Ca + H2O → Ca(OH)2 + H2

• Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 → CaOCl2 + H2O

This Calcium Compound is used as disinfectant in water as well as to wash clothes.

The main disinfectant in this compound is Chlorine
