Calcium does not combine directly with D) Carbon.

It reacts directly with Oxygen to form Calcium Oxide (CaO), it reacts directly with Nitrogen to form Calcium Nitride \bold{\left(C a_{3} N_{2}\right)}, it reacts directly with Hydrogen to form Calcium Hydride \bold{\left(\mathrm{CaH}_{2}\right)}.

Calcium reacts only with oxides of carbon and/or any carbonates of metals and/or also with bicarbonates of metals to produce new products and not directly with elementary carbon.
