The alkaline and alkali earth metal aremore chemically active than most metals due to presence of loosely held outermost electrons. Thus, calcium is a moderately active element so it's difficult for calcium to exit in free stateas calcium is a fairly soft metal.

Hi
This is your answer.
Calcium is moderately reactive element and in reactivity series of metal only those metal which lie down the table occur in free state like gold platinum etc.
As carbon and oxygen is present in large quantity in nature so it make compund with element which are more reactive.

Ask if there is any doubt.
