Calcium does not combine directly with

(1) Carbon.

It reacts directly with Oxygen to form Calcium Oxide (CaO), it reacts directly with Nitrogen to form Calcium Nitride , it reacts directly with Hydrogen to form Calcium Hydride .

Calcium reacts only with oxides of carbon and/or any carbonates of metals and/or also with bicarbonates of metals to produce new products and not directly with elementary carbon.
