Calcium and potassium do not have the same electronic configuration. Ca - atomic number 20 (2,8,8,2) and K - atomic number 19 (2,8,8,1). Thye belong to the same period. As potassium has a lower effective nuclear charge in comparison to calcium, i.e. it has lesser valence electrons which implies that the nuclear attractive charge is lesser felt, it has a larger size than calcium.
