CALCIUM HYDROGEN CANNOT BE USED FOR REMOVE THE PERMANENT HARDNESS OF WATER. WHY?

Explanation:

It is so because permanent hardness occurs due to the presence of sulphate and chloride ions and since the calcium hydroxide can only be used to remove the salt containing hydrogen carbonate ions, therefore calcium hydroxide can't be used for removing permanent hardness of water.

Answer:

Due to Presence of Calcium and Magnesium salts. As a result of which Calcium ions cannot displaced by the Calcium hydroxide thus Hardness is not removed. Permanent hardness can be Removed by Other methods such as, Adding Sodium Hexa Meta Phosphate will easily removes the Water.
