it's formula of carbonate

SAMBHAVYA: It is because carbonate is a radical whose formula is CO3 and which has a valency of 2. Therefore, caco3 has both its components' valency 2 which gets cancelled during the formation of the salt (calcium carbonate.)

Hey!!

That 3 is not Valency, it is the molecular formula of carbonate (CO3)
Valency of carbonate is 2 which is canceled by Valency of calcium, giving formula CaCO3.

Molecular formula of carbonate is CO3 because 3 oxygen atoms share electrons with one carbon atom.

sps6: thanks
Rahulsingh131: no problem
