Calculat the distance travelling by a sound wave having frequency 800H2 and wave length 0.14 if travels for 8 second.

The speed of the sound, distance traveled and the time taken relationship is given as follows.

Speed of sound=   Distance travelled/Time taken

 From this equation the Distance traveled is derived as  

Distance traveled= Speed of sound × Time taken

But, the speed or velocity of the sound is given as,

Speed of sound = Frequency × Wavelength

In the question, the frequency  800Hz and the wavelength is 0.14 m.

So, Speedofsound = (800 * 0.14)m/s = 112m/s

Now, Distance travelled=Speed of sound × Time taken

That is, Distance travelled = 80m/s × 8 seconds = 640m.

Hence, the distance travelled by the sound wave in 8 seconds is 640 meters.
