Given :

Separation between alpha particle and proton is , r=5.12\times 10^{-15}\ m .

To find :

Force between them .

Solution :

Charge on proton , q_p=1.6\times 10^{-19}\ C .

Now , we know charge on  alpha particle is twice the charge on proton .

Therefore , q_\alpha=2\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}\ C .

We know , force is given by :

F=\dfrac{kq_p\ q_\alpha}{r^2}

Here , k=9\times 10^9\ N\ m^2\ C^{-2}

Putting all values in above equation .

We get :

F=\dfrac{9 \times 10^9\times 1.6\times 10^{-19} \times 2\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}}{(5.12\times 10^{-15})^2}\\\\F=17.58\ N

Therefore , coulomb force between alpha particle and proton is 17.58 N .
