Calculate de Broglie wavelength of neutron of energy 12.8MeV.​

Explanation ⇒ Kinetic energy = 12.8 MeV.

∴ K.E. = 12.8 × 10⁶ eV.

∴ 1/2 × mv² = 12.8 × 10⁶ × 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹

1.6749 × 10⁻²⁷ × v² = 25.6 × 1.6 × 10⁻¹³

∴ v² = 24.45 × 10¹⁴

∴ v = 4.94 × 10⁷ m/s.

Using the formula of the de-broglie wavelength,

   λ = h/mv

∴ λ = (6.626 × 10⁻³⁴)/(1.6749 × 10⁻²⁷ × 4.94 × 10⁷)

∴ λ = 0.799976 × 10⁻¹⁴

∴ λ = 7.99 × 10⁻¹⁵ m.

∴ λ = 7.99 fm.

Hence, the wavelength of the neutron is 7.99 fm.
