K.E.(initial)= 1/2mv²

Now velocity has changed to half of it's iniqtial value so v'=v/2

K.E.(final)=1/2m(v')²=1/2m(v/2)²

= 1/2mv²/4=1/8mv²

Change in K.E.=K.E.(final)-K.E.(initial)

= 1/8mv²-1/2mv²

= -3/8mv²

Therefore the change in K.E. is -3/8mv² which is 1/4th of the initial value.

Hope it helps you
