Given, Train P is traveling at 50kmph and Train Q is traveling at 40kmph, when they meet, Train P has traveled 100km more than Train Q.

Let x be the distance traveled by Train Q, at 40kmph. Then, the distance traveled by Train P will be x+100km, traveling at 50kmph.

Let T be the time in hours traveled by the trains when they meet.

Then, 50T = x+100 ---------------(1)

And 40T = x. ---------------------- (2)

Substituting the value of x = 40T in equation (1), we get

50T = 40T + 100

Or 10T = 100 or T = 10.

Thus, the trains meet after 10 hours of leaving their respective stations.

The distance traveled by trains P and Q are 50*10 or 500km and 40*10 or 400km.

Therefore, the distance between stations P and Q are 400km+500km = 900km.
